RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Department of Materials Science & Nanoengineering, Rice University,  Oct 2017 – May 2020
Research Advisor: Prof. Edwin L. Thomas
Rachel worked on high-rate deformation of materials using Laser Induced Projectile Impact Test (LIPIT) to understand material strength under high-rate impact in nanorange for use in defensive material.

ABOUT

Rachel grew up under the extreme weather of South Korea, where she enjoyed various sports that you can enjoy under such weathers. She completed her undergrad at Rice University and had fattened herself, savoring exotic dishes and not moving to avoid the heat. Rachel is very excited to start her PhD at Stanford, especially given that she had to unwillingly take a year off after graduation due to Covid. She enjoys reading, running, drawing, or hanging out for drink when she is not in lab.
